PERUC (1766) - specifications, screenshots (Hauptwerk)

  • Each pipe of the instrument was sampled one by one including the original reverberation of the room.
  • The reverberation up to 2 seconds. This is sometimes called a "moist" sample set. Not entirely dry but not really wet.
  • All the processing took place in 24 bit depth at 48kHz rate.
  • The historical tuning is lost therefore the samples are tuned to equal temperament. Anyway, the Hauptwerk version 2 allows re-tuning the samples "on-the-fly" according to the wish of the performer.
  • Vocing control allows the timbre of individual stops to be changed according to the wish of the performer.
  • The sample set available in 16 bit depth with 44.1 kHz sample rate
  • Requires 1024x768 or 1200x800 (laptop) screen resolution.
  • The individual ranks of the instrument can be used to form custom user organs.

The RAM consumption when fully loaded at 16 bit:

  • the original version: 635 MB, compressed: 503 MB.
  • the extended version: 916 MB

Peruc for Hauptwerk 1

2. Peruc - extended

A derivation from the sample set. It tries to maximize the possiblities of the instrument by deriving more stops to enjoy the full barroque sound on both manuals. 19 speaking stops. The compass was extended to four and half octaves (C1-F5), the short octave was chromaticised (i.e. the missing semitones added). Pedal C1-D3. Couplers added.

Old version: Hauptwerk 1 screenshots

Each pipe of the instrument was sampled one by one including the original reverberation of the room which is smaller in size. The reverberation is rather short, 1.5-2 seconds. All the processing took place in 24 bit depth at 48kHz rate. There was no tone derived from its neighborhood. The samples have been re-tuned by me to perfect even temperament, A=440 Hz, because the historical tuning of the instrument is lost. The physical instrument itself is tuned to 440 Hz so there was no point of trying to get a historical tuning.

Peruc virtual organ set includes three virtual organ databases (3 sample sets).

1. Peruc - current state
This is a sample set originally recorded. This sample set presents the organ as preserved nowadays. 12 speaking stops, Four octaves C1 - C5*, short octave. Pedal C1-A2*, short octave. Loaded into PC memory it takes 486 MB of RAM.

Loaded into the PC (with software Hauptwerk) it looks like this. Click on the image to enlarge it.

2. Peruc - original state:
A derivation from the current state tries to imitate the original state of the instrument when built. The Quint 1 1/3 was derived from the preserved Octava 2 and there has been assembled a new mixture starting higher than the one preserved.
OctavBas 8 in Pedal was taken from the newly built (1901) Principal 8. Four octaves C1-C5*, short octave. Pedal C1-A2*, short octave. Loaded into PC it takes 554 MB of RAM. The chromaticised version of this set is also available.

3. Peruc - full
Another derivation from the first sample set. It tries to maximize the possiblities of the instrument by deriving more stops to enjoy the full barroque sound on both manuals. 18 speaking stops. The compass was extended to four and half octaves (C1-F5*), the short octave was chromaticised (i.e. the missing semitones added). Pedal C1-D3*. Couplers added. Loaded into PC it takes 952 MB of RAM.
